Sarah Kresh

Sarah Kresh is an Academic Faculty Development and Instructional Design Manager at the School of Professional Studies of the City University of New York, where she manages the school’s OER Initiative. She also teaches math in the CUNY SPS General Education program.

Sarah was a 2018-2019 OER Research Fellow and presented a statistical model for assessing change in student outcomes in courses converted from traditional textbooks to OER at Open Ed 2019. In 2022, she was a recipient of the OE Global Emerging Leader Award for her work engaging faculty in professional development on OER and assisting them in converting their courses from commercial publisher materials to OER and free-to-students materials.

The OER Initiative at CUNY SPS has saved students over $4.3 million dollars since it began in 2017 and dozens of faculty have participated in workshops on OER, on using Open Educational Practices to enhance representation, inclusiveness and student agency in fully online courses, and on the intersection of OEP and Universal Design for Learning.
