Camelia Boban

Camelia Boban is a Romanian-Italian economist, software developer and Wikimedia volunteer since 2006, based in Rome. She is the founder and Chair of WikiDonne, a Wikimedia user group and Italian non-profit dedicated to closing the gender gap in knowledge and cultural heritage, which received the Open Education Global Award for Excellence in DEI in 2025. She served on the Wikimedia Foundation Affiliations Committee from 2017 to 2022, and has since been a member of the NWE Grant Committee. She is also part of the WikiWomen Task Force and a Wikimedia Gender and Climate Change certified organizer. Her work spans open knowledge and education, intangible cultural heritage, and underrepresented communities across Wikimedia projects.
