Nishan Perera is Director of Educational Development at the Centre for Educational Transformation at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) in British Columbia, Canada, where he leads initiatives to advance teaching and learning, open education, and digital learning. His work centres on supporting educators in the design and adoption of open educational resources (OER), advancing Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) pathways, advancing open education practices and integrating emerging practices such as generative AI and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Nishan plays a key role in cross-institutional collaborations that promote open education, contributing to strategic planning, and capacity building for educators. He is actively involved in developing sustainable workflows for OER creation, digital credentials, and ePortfolio-based learning, with a focus on improving access, affordability, and student success. Drawing on a strong background in curriculum design and faculty development, Nishan brings an evidence-informed and collaborative approach to reviewing OEAward submissions, with a commitment to recognising impactful and equitable open education practices across diverse contexts.
