Patrina Law
United Kingdom
With over 20 years in educational technology and open learning, I have built my career around widening access to education and supporting approaches that can lead to positive social change.
I am currently Director of Education at the Royal Society of Arts, where I lead work exploring how creativity, ideas and collaboration can contribute to social good through education. Leading the Digital Badging Commission, I focused on how digital credentials can help recognise learning and skills more effectively.
At The Open University, I led OpenLearn — the free learning platform — supporting its growth to millions of learners annually and broadening its reach through channels such as YouTube and Amazon.
My interests include sustainable models for free education, digital credentials for social impact, and neurodiversity in education, particularly around creating more inclusive conditions for learning.
In 2023, I consulted for the UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report and was honoured to receive the Open Education Global Leadership Award. I am also a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Trustee of Cumberland Lodge and a reader for The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Education.
