2015 Open Innovation Award Winner

CYP-Media

The Open University (UK) (Milton Keynes, United Kingdom)

For the past three years, Tony Coughlan has been dedicated to sharing open educational resources (OER) with the resource-poor children and young people’s sector—a community largely outside academia and made up of charities, volunteers, and low-paid workers.

Through his blog, CYP-Media, Tony publishes evaluations of relevant resources, reaching more than 1,500 visitors every day. He actively promotes this work via Facebook, where individual posts are often viewed over 10,000 timesand widely shared, and on Twitter at @CYPMedia.

Remarkably, Tony Coughlan manages and runs CYP-Media entirely in his own time, outside of his primary job—demonstrating his strong personal commitment to making high-quality, freely available resources accessible to those who need them most.
