Recognized as an OER
From the nominator:
This nomination deserves a 2025 Open Education Award for Excellence for its transformative approach to teaching ethics in leadership. This interdisciplinary, open resource blends theory with real-world application. Co-authored by students, it centers diverse women’s voices from Canada, India, Nigeria, and the St’at’imc First Nation, equipping learners to navigate ethical dilemmas through inclusive lenses, case studies, and renewable assessments.
Over years of experience as educators and researchers in higher education, the authors identified persistent barriers in educational leadership literature: lack of open access, reliance on fictitious rather than real-world case studies, outdated language privileging Western worldviews, exclusion of Indigenous scholarship, and insufficient attention to global diversity. Positioned at “the intersection of educational leadership and open education,” this team recognized an opportunity to expand the capacity of educators and learners to engage meaningfully with ethical dilemmas in increasingly diverse learning environments.
I love the integration of diverse and minority perspectives and women’s voices/lenses on ethics, and renewable assessments not just diverse case studies. I would use this resource in my class! I am so impressed by the diversity of voices and perspectives on ethics from marginalized groups. Thank you for that!!!

I am so impressed with this OER. It is comprehensive, and provides a much needed resource for those managing educational programs/serving as educational leaders. This OER is easy to navigate, and has an interactive component at the end of each chapter that helps the reader process critical information.
