As the Open RN Project Director, Kim has led a collaborative network of hundreds of nurses, nurse educators, librarians, and other health professionals in creating and reviewing nine nursing textbooks with CC-BY licensing. The print versions of Open RN textbooks have been adopted by over 60 colleges across the United States and Canada, and there are over 3 million international users of the online textbooks. In 2020 and 2021, the first three Open RN textbooks received OE Awards for Excellence, including Nursing Pharmacology, Nursing Skills, and Nursing Fundamentals.
Kim has presented at several international conferences, including the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH), International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), National League for Nursing (NLN) Educational Summits, Achieve the Dream, OpenEd, OE Global, and Open Education for a Better World (OE4BW). She also co-authored a manuscript entitled, “Adopting Open Educational Resources as an Equity Strategy,” that will be published in Nursing Education Perspectives in Fall 2023.
