Dr Javiera Atenas has made sustained and impactful contributions to open education through the creation and advancement of open educational resources (OER) in data and AI literacy, grounded in a deep commitment to equity, access and collaboration.

Javiera combines intellectual sharpness with a deeply critical and creative approach to openness. Her work in data and AI literacy goes beyond resource development. She co-creates openly licensed, accessible materials that support educators and learners to engage critically with data, algorithms and AI, paying particular attention to ethics, inclusion and power. Dr. Javiera Atenas has contributed to Open Education for many years with exceptional generosity, commitment, and a deep belief in education as a public good. Her work goes beyond impactful resources and outputs; it reflects a practice of knowledge sharing as the default. I have had the privilege not only of studying her work, but also of witnessing how she supports others when there is no spotlight. Dr. Atenas truly practices what she preaches, and she richly deserves this recognition
