Open Curation Award

LibreTexts

University of California-Davis/LibreTexts (CA, United States)

A powerful OER repository with a centralized hub of libraries classified by topics. Each library holds digital bookshelves that enables harvesting workflows of OER materials.  The resources are formatted to facilitate curation, customization and remixing, and placed on digital bookshelves for everyone to use.

The Principal Bookshelves hold texts that are curated by the LibreTexts development team and can be used either directly or as building blocks to create new remixes. Faculty members are able to make course maps that allow customization and localization of content.

Libretexts is a multi-institutional collaborative venture to develop the next generation of open-access texts to improve postsecondary education at all levels of higher learning. The LibreTexts approach is highly collaborative where an Open Access textbook environment is under constant revision by students, faculty, and outside experts to supplant conventional paper-based books.

About Open Curation Award

An exceptional collection of high-quality OER presented after a curation process. More than merely collecting content on a specific subject, strong curation involves carefully selecting content and evaluating it for a specific purpose. Presenting it in a meaningful and organized way that can then be customized and re-shared for future users.
